State of the business cycle is our flagship publication, containing and in-depth consideration of the state of the SA economy. While each business cycle is unique, a fascinating feature of a free-market economy is the correspondence of the behaviour of macroeconomic magnitudes (e.g. consumption and investment) at turning points of the business cycle. The focus of this publication is to investigate how near or how far the general economy is from upper or lower turning points in the business cycle.
